The machine is practical and convenient, and the croquette conveyor belt system has never jammed. My only small complaint is that the timer is off by 1 minute every month. I would also suggest including the power adapter in the price, as buying it separately is expensive for a basic transformer. However, overall it is an excellent product that gives me full autonomy. It is from a great brand, as I also have their automatic cat door.

I did not receive any compensation or discount for this review. Before purchasing this feeder on Amazon, I did a lot of research by reading articles and customer reviews. Initially, I had a difficult time deciding between the PetSafe Feeder and the Pet Feedster. I ended up choosing the Pet Feedster because it had more options, but I had to return it due to defects and its fragile construction. After reading my previous review of the Pet Feedster, I decided not to replace it with another feeder from the same brand.
However, I was pleasantly surprised by the Petsafe feeder that I bought after returning the Pet Feedster. Although I expected it to be inferior, I am extremely happy with it. It is more robust, easier to clean, and the buttons respond well. All the options, including the precise amount of food delivered, work perfectly.
Some reviews mention that the instructions are complex and it is necessary to constantly refer to the manual. I disagree. While this feeder is not “plug and play,” which is true for most automatic feeders on the market, the instructions are clear, well-illustrated, and easy to follow. It is worth taking the time to read and follow the instructions to set it up correctly.
There are three types of scheduling: “dog,” “cat,” and “user.” The first two are preprogrammed and can be set quickly, but the “user” scheduling offers the most versatility, which I love. Setting up the “user” scheduling is easy and quick, even for beginners. There is no need to worry about mistakes since they can be easily corrected. The feeder can dispense food quantities ranging from 1/8 of a cup to 4 cups accurately.
The buttons on the feeder have a sturdy and reliable feel to them. However, there is one step that is easy to forget. After adding the food to the hopper, it is essential to push the buttons to initiate the feeding process. This step, “Prepare the conveyor with food,” may be missed because it is a bit counter-intuitive. It is included in the instructions but could be easily overlooked.
I personally had no issues setting up my PetSafe feeder, and I did not require any assistance from customer support since everything was explained clearly in the guide. I highly recommend thoroughly reading Step One (cleaning and assembling) and Step Two (Initial Setup) before starting the setup process. The second part of Step Two (starting with “Operating Mode”) can be read after the setup.
Additionally, the conveyor must be hand washed and air-dried before first use. It should not be placed in the dishwasher or subjected to hot water. The other washable parts can be cleaned in the dishwasher but must also be air-dried before assembly.
Some people have claimed that modifying the programming is difficult, but I found it to be incredibly easy. I have already changed the feeding time and quantity for my cat multiple times without any issues. Once you read about it once, you will see how simple it is.
After the initial setup, you only need the quick guide sheet for reference. It comes as a separate sheet alongside the manual and features the 5-button navigation quick guide. This sheet provides a quick reference to the basic functions of the feeder. I have laminated it and placed it above the feeder for easy access.
I love this feeder and will continue to keep the guide on hand. I will refer to it for maintenance purposes, as there are specific steps for cleaning the machine that differ from the initial cleaning process. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with my PetSafe feeder.

There is actually no comparable machine that stores and dispenses food so securely, and that can also be operated with either a power adapter or batteries. Unfortunately, despite the high price, the adapter is not included.
I used a 9V universal adapter (instead of 10V) and it works great. This adapter also fits:

Don’t be alarmed by the video posted in another review here. The cat only manages to reach a few pieces that haven’t fallen down yet, and certainly not the supply that is well secured by this machine. The amount he may get with his paw is very limited and will result in fewer pieces at the next meal. 🙂
It uses a rubber conveyor belt, with one portion corresponding to a groove in the belt.
Of course, the number of portions can be adjusted. (The quantity settings are a bit coarse, but that’s fine.) This conveyor belt effectively prevents the cat from reaching the supply with its paw.
I also bought the four heavy-duty D batteries (which most devices require) for added security. If the power adapter is unplugged, the machine immediately switches to battery mode (and vice versa). Great in case of a power outage.
It’s also a feature that is hard to find elsewhere.
The noise when the food falls down, which has been criticized here, is really not a big deal – it allows the cat to hear from afar when there’s food. (It’s advantageous for us since the device is in the carport.)
I can really highly recommend it, and although I would have reluctantly deducted a star because it’s expensive, I’m giving that star back because it’s truly the only device that functions flawlessly and offers the option to use a power adapter.
I don’t want to throw away and buy new four D-batteries every few weeks.
The price is really high, but currently there is no alternative that can match this device.
Since the ring for the bowl was already broken when I received it (a used device sold as new – Wolffstore_GmbH – partial refund provided), I made a board with stoppers as a base to hold the bowl on the device – it was very easy and is super secure.
After a long search, I bought this device and I’m very satisfied with it.
I looked at many machines very closely, and everything else I read about seems to be junk in comparison.
But for this one, I give it my full recommendation!

So far, this is the best automatic feeder I’ve had. The plastics are of good quality and the plate is made of stainless steel. Very easy to program. You can dispense up to 12 meals a day. Very useful when you have multiple cats like me. All components can be disassembled for washing. And most importantly: THE FOOD NEVER GETS STUCK! The only downside I would mention is that the ring that holds the plate is a bit flimsy.

I have been able to change the settings without any problems over time. Recently, we lost two of our cats, so now there is only one cat upstairs and my mom’s two cats downstairs. The feeder is perfect for the cat that doesn’t like strangers and needs controlled portions to lose weight. I bought another automatic feeder for my mom’s cats and I’m very happy with the reduced price. It was easy to set up and it worked perfectly from the first meal.
One of my favorite features is its durability. It can handle different textures of food and can be powered by a cord or batteries. It is also portable and can dispense small portions up to twelve times. It is not very loud, and I haven’t experienced any issues with it tipping over. We are absolutely in love with this product. It has been our go-to for the past 3.5 years and has proven to be extremely reliable. It has never failed to dispense the right amount of food, as long as we ensure there are enough kibbles in it. Whether we leave for a few hours or go on vacation for a couple of days, we feel confident knowing that our cat will be well-fed. Our cat is highly food motivated, and if we were the ones responsible for feeding her, she would constantly beg for food. So, it’s incredibly helpful that she associates this dispenser with her meals, eliminating the need for constant begging. The battery life is also impressive, as we have only had to replace it once in all this time. The only minor drawback is that the time settings can drift slowly over time. For example, if we set it to 11 am, after a month or so, the cat starts eating at 10:50 am. However, this is not a significant issue for us, as we can easily readjust the time accordingly. It surprises me to see so many overweight cats, even in well-off households. This product offers a simple and convenient solution, and I always recommend it to anyone I come across. Considering the years of convenience it provides, the price is definitely worth it!

After a disappointing experience with another cheap distributor that frequently had incomplete distributions due to a jammed wheel, this PetSafe product seems to be the reliable option I was looking for. The programming is easy to do and modify, and the conveyor distribution system with small compartments on the conveyor belt appears to be very dependable (at least so far). There is no risk of the conveyor getting blocked by a piece of kibble, so there is no chance of the pet going without food. The advancement of the conveyor is quite silent, the noise mainly comes from the kibbles falling into the metal bowl, a sound that the pet quickly understands as an invitation to come and eat.
Some trial and error is necessary the first time, of course, to measure the correspondence between the milliliter measurements on the device and the weight of the usual amount of kibbles it dispenses. This is easy to do with the conveyor loading function that moves the conveyor by 8 compartments.
