Overall, I would give this product a higher rating if it were easier to program and if the quantity adjustment was more precise and flexible. Initially, programming the time and feedings can be quite complicated. It takes a few mistakes before you fully understand how it works. The quantity feeding is measured in seconds. Level one feeds for 35 seconds, and level two doubles that time to 70 seconds. However, there are no options in between these two levels. So if this system suits your needs, then it is a good feeder. But if you require more customization, there is no way to modify it. Additionally, there are two plastic screws, one with a larger space between veins that pushes out more pellets compared to the smaller one. Using the larger screw, it would take minutes to spin, which may not be ideal considering the silo above can only hold 5.5 pounds of feed.

After reading some of the previous reviews, I noticed that people mentioned that programming this unit is difficult and there are not enough options for feeding settings. However, it seems that the manufacturer has listened to these concerns as programming the unit is now very easy and there are 7 different feed settings available. This product is well constructed and reliable. Personally, I have no complaints with this unit.

The feeder is excellent overall, but my only concern is that the minimum amount of food it dispenses is still too much for a small number of young fish. To prevent water pollution, you would need to have at least 8 koi under 12 inches or 4-5 above 12 inches. I have already set the feeder to the lowest setting of 1 and used the smaller food auger, but the amount is still excessive for my needs. However, if you have a pond full of adult fish, this feeder would be perfect for you.

I purchased this product to easily feed my outdoor cat while I’m away, and it has been fantastic! I securely attached it to my deck and set it up to dispense food directly into my cat’s bowl, which is protected from rain by a Rubbermaid tub. To prevent raccoons from accessing the food, I made a small modification by drilling a hole in the lid and inserting a screw. This feeder has truly been a game-changer, helping me save time and reduce stress. Although I initially struggled a bit with programming the feeding times and quantities, I eventually figured it out and now it works perfectly. An added bonus is that it continues to function during short power outages. I believe this product would also work well as a feeder for fish or other cats, and I highly recommend it!

The product is well-built and durable. We bought it for our small fish pond in the backyard, as we often travel and wanted a convenient way to feed the fish for a few days. However, we had trouble understanding the instructions for setting the timers. We made several attempts to adjust the settings, but each time more food would come out than intended. Despite trying to contact customer service on different occasions to accommodate different time zones, we were always greeted with a recorded message and couldn’t leave a message ourselves. Feeling frustrated, we ultimately decided to return the item. It’s a shame because the product seems promising, but it’s not worth it if you can’t set it up properly.

The product initially performed satisfactorily for a few months. However, one day I discovered that the top was missing, most likely due to strong winds. Fortunately, I noticed this issue in time to prevent my koi from starving. I decided to purchase a replacement cap from the company, which cost me $20. Regrettably, upon receiving the new cap, I realized that the entire mechanism no longer functions properly. Luckily, I detected this problem before it caused any harm to my fish.

Hey everyone! I purchased this product for my 14-foot Koi pond, which houses about 15 fish. Initially, I had some difficulties with the programming, but after that, everything went smoothly. It can handle both types of koi food without any issues. Let me explain how the programming works. The feeder only dispenses food once every hour. For example, if you set it for 1-7, it will dispense the first feeding at 7 am. If you program it for 4-21, the fourth feeding will occur at 9 pm. You can adjust the amount of food dispensed from 1 to 6, with six being a substantial amount and one being just enough for me. Personally, I have it set to dispense a small amount twice a day. To test it out, I placed the feeder in a bench vice overnight with a bowl underneath to see how much food came out.
Some previous reviewers mentioned that the programming resulted in too much food being dispensed, but I believe they may have had an older version of the timer. This particular model has multiple levels of adjustment, so if you need less than “1” setting, you might want to check if you have enough fish or if your fish are well-fed enough. (Just kidding!)
When I go on vacation, I plan to cover the timer with a bag since I’m unsure about its weatherproofing capabilities. However, it is quite easy to detach and place it in a gallon zip-lock bag, which gives me peace of mind. That’s why I’m rating it highly today.
Another feature I appreciate is that this timer doesn’t require a battery. I accidentally turned off the power switch for an hour, but when I turned it back on, the timer retained the correct time.
I only installed this feeder recently, so I will update you in a few weeks to let you know if my opinion changes or if any fish have died. However, based on my current experience, I think everything will be fine.
Update: We just returned from a five-day trip and arrived at 4:55 pm. I quickly checked and saw that the food dropped at exactly 5:00 pm as programmed. The fish were eagerly waiting to eat. It works great!
